A Cloth a Day: How the Idea Came and Why I Finally Started

There was a time I kept asking myself a simple question: What can I really do with my left over fabrics? I am a fashion designer. I work with clothes every day. I see fabrics, finished garments, and sometimes clothes that are still very good but no longer needed by someone. That question stayed with me for a long time. The truth is, the idea for A Cloth a Day didn’t come suddenly. It came as an inspiration. I remember clearly when the thought dropped in my heart. It felt simple, almost too simple, and before I knew it, the day had passed. I didn’t start immediately. Life happened. I delayed. I overthought it. Procrastination crept in. At some point, I even felt like the moment had passed. But inspiration has a way of returning when it is meant to be acted upon. Over time, I realized that the idea didn’t leave because it wasn’t meant to. Eventually, I beat the procrastination and decided to start, even if it wouldn’t be perfect. That was the beginning of A Cloth a Day . Thi...

A CLOTH A DAY

A CLOTH A DAY A Cloth a Day  is a weekly initiative close to my heart, dedicated to bringing smiles to children aged  0 to 12  by providing them with beautiful, handmade clothing. What makes this project truly special is that we create these garments from  remnants, leftover fabrics, and pieces of cloth  turning what might have been forgotten into designs full of color, life, and love. With the support of our community, partners, and volunteers, we carefully design and distribute these clothes to children who need them most. It’s not just about giving clothes; it’s about  showing that every child deserves to feel seen, special, and cared for , even through the simplest of gifts. Through this initiative, we transform small pieces of fabric into moments of joy and hope, proving that creativity and compassion can go hand in hand. Here, you can follow updates, see photos of the children wearing our creations, and learn how you can be part of this journey. Toget...

I need your advice: Is it ok to allow my househelp take food from the pot of food she prepared?

Image
Hello dear Readers, Jummy needs your advice: "I have a househelp that lives with me and sometimes cook when I'm tired too. But I usually and it's a must for me to prepare freshly made soup and store in refrigerator for subsequent use. But for some foods like indomine, yam, rice etc, I let her cook. But, I think I have an issue with her collecting food from the pot even though she's the one that prepares it. I feel like she should let me know when she's hungry so I can dish her portion for her. I feel like she should have portion control. Not like I'm being strict, just that I feel she will not manage the food well if she continues taking her food from the pot. Please what should I do? Should I stop her from taking food from the pot?" Please share your thoughts

Is it the duty of the man to cook for his family even when he has a wife?

Image
A lady tweeted supporting the claims and stating as facts that it's the duty of a woman to cook for the family as each partner has his or her responsibility to keep the family moving. She said: "let's pretend it's not the duty of a woman to cook for the family since we all want to appear modern and woke. The man goes out to work, you call your husband when your car breaks down, your husband fixed your car, fuels your car, pays school fees, provides for the family but when it comes to cooking, it becomes a debate since we want to be woke." Another tweeter user responded to her tweet saying: (see the screenshot) While many agreed to the latter that each person in the family has his or her role beginning from the father to the children, a lot of users also disagreed to the response the other lady tweeted. Read reactions below; What is your opinion on this argument? Do you think it's a must for a woman to always be in the kitch...

Meanwhile another Uncle that I have known since 2012 has been on my neck chasing after me but I was skeptical due to the distance. Fast forward to 2018 the Uncle I was killing myself for refused to change, I had found out more than 15times about his sexcapades, and when I confront him, he will immediately kneel down, hold my legs and cry emotionally blackm...

I caught my brother making out with my mother in bed. - Justina shares

Image
"I have never had any kind of suspicion that my mother and brother are were having a thing as huge as sleeping with each other. I can't even comprehend it. Evelyn, I'm sharing this with you because I've been reading your articles on people's story and want to let people know a lot happen in this life. This just happened few days ago. My mother loves us so much. We are just 2 siblings, myself and my big brother with our father very much alive. I have always seen my mother's attention towards my brother as that of mother to son, never has it crossed my mind that it's anything beyond or above that. To cut the story short, I was in school and I was to come home yesterday, 31st of December as I earlier informed them. But I had a plan to surprise them instead, so I decided to come home on 29th December. I also knew Dad won't be at home as he would be at work. I came home, knocked on the door but no one was answering. Mum's car was parked in ...

I'm in love with my cousin and always jealous whenever his girlfriend is around. -Chioma spills

Image
"Call me any name you like but the truth is that since childhood, I've always crushed on my cousin and I'm in love with him now. He feels the same way too but because we are blood related, we have our partners yet I get jealous whenever his girlfriend is around. Let me even confess that we have kissed and have both gotten to that point we could have slept with each other but we didn't give in to that desire knowing that it would be a taboo if we ever do, the urge was high. Now that we are home in our town for the Christmas holiday, we are always together, our families know that we are so close but what they don't know is we have even kissed. His girlfriend came to visit and I was not comfortable with around, I just fake smiles around, I'm so jealous she's with my cousin." Please share your thoughts.

I haven't seen my husband in 6 years since he travelled out. I'm tired of waiting. Should I remarry?

Image
"I got married in 2006. A year later in 2007, my husband relocated to the US. The plan was for him to settle there and then bring myself and our only son to join him. It's been six long years and he has been giving us serious of excuses. He confessed that he married a white woman there but only to get his papers but I later found out he was living with this woman. When I called him a few months ago I heard a child crying at the background, so I'm suspecting they also have a child together though he says the child is the lady's child and not his. I don't believe him. I have no way of finding out the truth because I have no one in the US to help me investigate. He has only returned home once since he traveled and this was in 2010. I feel like I'm wasting my life waiting for him especially now that I met someone else who wants to marry me and take care of my son. I'm not divorced from my husband so marrying another man would be illegal. When I su...

True life story: I'm a Muslim and I wish I can marry more than 1 husband - Zainab

Image
"Hi, my name is Zainab, 26yrs old, single and I live in Gwagwalada. I'm a Muslim to the core. But religion and culture has moulded our lifestyles that we have to adapt and adhere to religion and cultural beliefs. As a woman and a Muslim who is bound to marry one man unlike marrying more than a woman, I feel sometimes women could marry more than one man too. I'm the kind of person that is attracted to men, I find myself liking more than one man or loving them and I feel like I wish I can have them, so instead of cheating, I just wish it's possible for me to marry more than a man. Our religion and culture though, I feel bad I can't have men I like and marry them." Please share your thoughts.

Image
Majority of people have speculated that KIMOPRAH,...oh wait! Let me take you back. KIMOPRAH and Mercy were housemates of last Big Brother Naija Show season 4, PEPPERDEM. That is the last season. Kimoprah Unfortunately at the time, was evicted after 2 weeks in the show. And as you know and if you didn't also know, the season Mercy Eke won. Kim hasn't stopped doing well for herself outside the show, she's been doing so well, getting endorsed and getting gigs. For someone who left the show early and still talked about, she is really a girl with a great personality. Let's not forget she's a model. Bringing you back to the gist, it has been speculated by many that Kim is the most beautiful girl amongst all the ex housemates from See Gobe to Double wahala to Pepperdem. While some argued that Mercy for Pepperdem is the most beautiful. Over to you, let's settle this, Kim or Mercy for Beauty?
