Note by Evelyn Umeh TO SEW A SKIRT. First step is to take the waist, hips and length measurement. The length should be from the waist to either below or above your knee. Depending on how long or how short you want it. Get your fabric, tape rule, chalk, ruler and scissors ready. Get at least 1 and half or 2 yards fabric. Fold the fabric into 4 Use your hips measurement divided by 4 to fold your fabric. Leave 2 inches for zip allowance. 2 inches for seam allowance 1 inch for hemming. Measure your waist from the right side of the fabric. Your waist divided by 4 + 2 inches seam allowance + 1 inch for dart. To get your hips, measure 9 inches (standard) from the waist. Divide your hips by 4 and add 2 inches seam allowance. olulope recently shared the outcome of her sketch recently after learning from my blog  "Basic steps on how to sketch" .  Trust me, I'm amazed at what she came up with. After seeing her submission, I had to give myself a pat at the back and told myself, Girl, you are a great teacher. I'm proud of your work Tol and that of others who have submitted. My review  I love   the way you labeled the sketch analysing the  croquis  Just the way I taught you  here .  Your measurement is on point  The waistline, hipline, bustline, neckline and the knee line well placed.  But, your hips have to be well curved next time and make it proportional.  Overall, good job, good try for a starter. I'm proud of you.
