MS TUTORIAL: HOW TO CUT A STRAIGHT SKIRT
Note by Evelyn Umeh TO SEW A SKIRT. First step is to take the waist, hips and length measurement. The length should be from the waist to either below or above your knee. Depending on how long or how short you want it. Get your fabric, tape rule, chalk, ruler and scissors ready. Get at least 1 and half or 2 yards fabric. Fold the fabric into 4 Use your hips measurement divided by 4 to fold your fabric. Leave 2 inches for zip allowance. 2 inches for seam allowance 1 inch for hemming. Measure your waist from the right side of the fabric. Your waist divided by 4 + 2 inches seam allowance + 1 inch for dart. To get your hips, measure 9 inches (standard) from the waist.
