HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR BODYSHAPE: Do you know your bodyshape?
In order to determine your body shape, you need to first of all, know your body size. Getting your measurement with your cloths on would give you inaccurate result and so, what you would do is to be sure to be indoor, perhaps your room. Stand in front of a full standing mirror with just your bra and pant preferably. That way, you would get an accurate result of your body size.
The following are what you need to get your body size:
- Tape rule
- Full standing mirror
- Pen or pencil
- book (you can call it measuring book)
To get started, follow these 3 simple basic steps: your bust, waist and hips to get your body size.
Let's get started.
picture 1.1 basic body size measurement. |
The Bust: Your bust is your breast. That is, the bust is the larger part of your upper body or the fullest part of your breast. To get the measurement of your bust, place the tape rule round your bust using the inches measurement of the tape. Do not make it too tight, allow the tape to be able to move round your bust or place your thumb beneath the tape to prevent it from being tight and to get accurate result. Read your measurement from the mirror and jot in your book.
Your Waist: This is the second basic measurement and the midsection of your body. it is also the tiny part of your body. Still standing in front of the mirror, bend your left or your right, wrap thetape rule around your waist which is also called the natural waist. Do not hold your breath while trying to measure your waist, only keep your tummy relaxed. Stick your thumb again beneath the tape to ensure that its not too tight then read your measurement from the mirror. write in your book.

The Hips: The hips is the last basic step you need to determine your body shape. It is the largest part of your lower body. While standing in front of the mirror, your feet should be closed together then wrap the tape rule around your hip. (Your hip is the widest part of your lower body and the measurement is usually determined by the hip bone). Stick your thumb beneath the tape to be sure its not too tight then read your measurement from the mirror or look down without loosening your grip.. Jot in the book.
Now that you know your basic body size, it would guide you in knowing your body shape.

ReplyDeleteYou mention a couple of times that the waist might not be proportional. I am starting with the understanding that the relationship between any two numbers represents a proportion. What is considered to be the standard waist to hips, waist to bust, or bust to hips proportion that we are comparing ourselves to?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment Kim. the standard measurement from waist to hips is said to be 9'', and for the bust to hips would be 14-15''. i hope this answers your question. if you are not clear still, please leave a comment.
