WAYS TO DRESS WELL AT AN INTERVIEW: YOU REALLY NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DRESS TO AN INTERVIEW.

It's true that your intelligence can earn you your job but without looking smart or dressing well, it would be a disadvantage for you to get that job. Your very first impression anywhere you go has a lot to say about you. Before you walk into your employer's office, your employer would be so pleased to have an interview with you. He would be interested in working with you to have you as the right candidate. The way you dress says how organized and detailed you are. Ever wondered why you were so articulate in answering correctly every question asked by your employer yet you didn't get the job? The answer is not far fetched, you were simply not properly dressed. No employer would employ an employee with a bad sense of dressing. Let me show you ways to dress well at an interview. Read below:

1. Personal Hygiene:
Health they say, is wealth. The need to care of your body matters a lot. Before going for an interview, do the following:
  • Have a shower to look and feel freshened up. If you are already working and you need to go for an interview later the day, it's highly recommended that your wash your hair and face before going for your interview. It would not only make you feel better, but refreshed, clean and neat. Tip(go to work with your face cream, soap, hand towel and comb if you're already working).
  • Have a clean breath. No one wants to stay a sec with someone with mouth odour. It's disgusting and irritating. If youve eaten something before the time of interview, make use of mouth rinse or have sweets with menthol in your mouth shortly before the time and make sure it's out of your mouth before you go in for an interview. Another option is the use of mouth spray.
  • Hair cut/hair do. As a man, your hair should be neat, clean and conservative. Avoid the use of gels on your hair. Have a clean short hair cut. Watch your shoulders for dandruffs that must have fallen from your hair while combing or brushing hair. For the women, don't leave hair lie you're attending a ceremony or function. It is better to leave your hair packed or brush your hair in such a way that it would not attract unneccesary attention. Pay good attention to your hair and make sure you appear professional
  •  Your hands must be clean. No doubtyour hands would be clean if you're just leaving your house for an interview bt it would be okay if you have some hand sanitizer and hand spray in your suitcase. Use it shortly before you go in for your interview. Probably, you've been at work, wash your hands thoroughly and leave your hands neat and smelling nice. You might definitely shake hands with your employer and you know what that means.
  • Your nails should be kept clean and neat.
  • Don't forget your deodorants or perfumes. You just have to smell nice.
2. Be Organized.
Dress in such a way that is professionally acceptable and suitable for the position you applied for. Occasionally or most cases, this means that it has to be suit for both men and women. For women, it could also be skirt and nice shirt/top. You could ask the Human resources of the company you applied to assist you with the dress code appropriate for the position applied for. It is rather advisable to do so when in doubt of how to dress.

3. Dress according to the profession/work environment.

For Men:
  • A dark coloured suit is most appropriate. Also with light coloured shirt
  • Your suit should be comfortable and fit you well so that you look your very best. Wear the right top and right pant
  • The perfect shoe and the right accessory. To be on a safe side, ask a stylist or the shoe attendant for the appropriate shoe for an interview. Make sure your shoes are well polished
  • Avoid loud colors and flashy ties.
  • Your clothes should be neat, clean, and pressed. If you don’t have an iron, get yourself prepared and buy or visit dry cleaner before the day of interview.
  • Have a clean beard. If you have full beard, make it trimmed and neat.
For Women:
Just like men, there's really no much difference on how to dress for an interview except for few details which of course make us male or female.
  • For  professional work environment, you should wear a suit with skirt just on your knew. Choose dark coloured suit as well like black or navy blue and light coloured shirt. No coloured or prints shirt e.g, animal prints should totally not be considered for an interview. For business casual work environment, dress in skirt and right top.
